YAKIMA, Wash. -- As thousands attended memorial services in Tacoma for the fallen Lakewood Officers, the Yakima Police Department held a service for those who had to stay behind.
YPD's Chaplain Michael Bailey presided over the local memorial. Chaplain Bailey tried to comfort those who attended, while thanking those who continue to serve their communities.
"The people are reaching out to their officers not in fear, but in love and saying we hurt with you and we want you to know we stand beside you and we appreciate everything you do," said Bailey.
A representative from the Yakama Nation sang a sacred song in honor of the officers. Several family members of fallen Officer Tina Griswold gave thanks for the outpouring of support.
