RICHLAND, Wash. -- The Richland School District says Jason Lee Elementary School will dismiss students at 12:45 today (Thursday) due to lack of heat.
The district says the school's heating system has malfunctioned because of circulation overloads caused by the cold weather. Maintenance staff are working to repair the problems.
Parents are being notified to pick up their children at 12:45 pm or anytime before if that is more convenient. Students who cannot get home or whose parents have not been notified will be transported to Chief Joseph Middle School at 1:00 pm to stay warm.
Any students still remaining at Chief Joseph at 3:00 pm will be transported back to Jason Lee so they can walk home from school as they normally would.
