YAKIMA--A 21-year-old man dies early Sunday morning after being shot in the head.
A witness told Yakima police that William Kreder was shot inside a home on the 1100 block of Baker Street in an apparent drug deal gone bad.
When officers arrived at the home shortly after midnight Sunday, they found Kreder had been shot in the head. He died of his injuries about five hours later.
Yakima Police Lt. Nolan Wentz told KNDO the department is familiar with the duplex where Kreder was shot, responding there on calls of drug use, domestic violence, and even an armed robbery several weeks ago.
But, this is the most serious crime he could remember at that location.
According to Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins, this is the 23rd homicide in the county this year. There were 18 homicides in Yakima County in 2008.
Wentz said police have a specific suspect, though they would not disclose a name. Officers are also looking for a witness they say ran from the scene after the shooting.
