WALLA WALLA -- A Walla Walla Police Officer was dragged over 200 feet in attempted arrest.

It happened around 8:30 Monday night at Spokane St. and Rose St. Police were trying to arrest 38-year-old Jason Spencer of Walla Walla because he was driving with a revoked license.

A backup officer was attempting to turn off the ignition when Spencer took off, dragging the officer, who was partially in and out of the driver's door. Spencer drove into the oncoming traffic lane as the officer held on.

The original officer who made the traffic stop fired a shot at Spencer's pickup. He eventually stopped, but continued to fight with the two officers.

Spencer was eventually tazed and taken to the Walla Walla County Jail on multiple charges including 2nd degree assault, reckless endangerment, and driving under the influence. In a breathalyzer test, he blew nearly twice the legal limit. He was not injured.

The victim suffered a possible broken thumb and was treated at a local hospital.
