More Winter Weather On The Way

Posted: Updated:

Updated: Tuesday, December 15th -- 5:30 PM

Mother nature is certainly giving us our money's worth! We've seen several inches of snow, areas of freezing rain and sleet, and even some areas of just plain rain.

Our current situation is the result of the bitter cold arctic air that invaded us from the north last week, still lingering down here in the lower elevations. The incoming storms are moving up from the southwest and they are packing warmer temperatures. This warmer precipitation is then re-freezing when it falls through the colder air down here on the ground. It is going to take stronger winds to mix out this heavy and colder air.

Another storm system will be moving in overnight and tomorrow, we you can expect more of the wet stuff before we dry out the latter part of the week.

On This Day, December 15, In 1924, A Two Week Cold Snap Began On 15th. Most Streams Or Rivers Were Frozen Over Or Blocked With Ice, And Automobiles Were Driven Across The Willamette River In Portland. Don't go driving on any waterways here! Its not safe or smart. The regular roadways are dangerous enough with all the snow and ice on them.

Be careful and have a great evening!
