KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Arc of the Tri-Cities received a huge donation today. The local nonprofit organization received $500,000.
The money was donated by the Mission Support Alliance and Lockheed Martin, each donating $250,000. The nonprofit will be using the money to build a computer lab for their new facility they are building at the Port of Kennewick. Staff believes this donation will help bring a new dimension of skill development and personal goal setting to individuals with developmental disabilities. "You know I'm always amazed by the generosity of the community and the companies they have. This is just phenomenal. This truly makes a difference in our journey of a new facility," said Judy Westsik, Executive Director.
The new facility broke grounds in October and is expected to open by August, 2010.
