KENNEWICK, Wash-- Twice a week Kennewick Police send police briefings to our e-mail inbox. They're filled with various reports of arrests. But closely examining them, we found something disturbing-- at least three separate threats to kill police officers.
These alleged threats come just weeks after five officers statewide have been killed. Local officers say the police community is mourning their loss, and take all threats seriously.
"Law enforcement as a whole, as a family, was deeply hurt by everything that's happened in the last few months. It is painful to hear someone say something like that, but we can't let it affect how we do out job. We have to continue to do our job the way we always have," says officer Shirrell Veitenheimer with the Kennewick Police Department.
As for penalties, Officer Veitenheimer says it's a felony threat charge.
