Dads support kids in school

PASCO, Wash. - A local elementary school is looking at a nation wide program that asks dads to be Watch D.O.G.S. Families from Mark Twain Elementary attended the first annual event to discuss the program. The nationwide program, Watch D.O.G.S., stands for dads of great students. It focuses on providing positive male role models for children while enhancing school security.

Watch D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles and other male figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year at their cchild'sschool. During the event more than 100 people were in attendance.  School staff says this turn out was unexpected but it doesn't surprise them.

The Watch D.O.G.S. program is in more than 800 schools nationwide.
