RICHLAND, Wash. -- One man leads Richland Police on a chase, both in the car and on foot, ending in a tazing and arrest.
Police say it all started around 1:45 early Friday morning in the parking log of Joker's Casino. They say 21-year-old Johnny Rodriguez was speeding through the parking lot, nearly hitting other vehicles. Rodriguez then proceeded to drive onto Wellisan Way.
The officer was able to catch up with Rodriguez, and attempted to pull him over. The suspect stopped, but as the officer was walking up to his car, he sped off. At one point during the chase, Rodriguez got out of the car and ran. Police say he tried flagging down other cars and even attempted to get in one.
Police say he got back in the car, drove back to Joker's Casino and again jumped out of the car and ran. He was tackled by Joker's security staff and eventually tazed. He was still combative, but was finally handcuffed and taken into custody. Police say he showed numerous signs of being highly intoxicated.
Rodriguez was booked in the Benton County Jail on Felony Eluding charges, DUI, and Driving with a Suspended License. The prosecutor's office placed a 72-hour hold on the suspect.
