YAKIMA, Wash. -- Fire investigators say a fire that caused extensive damage to a home on the 7500 block of Olmstead Court has been ruled as suspected arson.

The incident happened Thursday night just after 8:30. There was a woman inside the home, but she was able to make it out.

Yakima firefighters kept the fire contained to the area it originated, but smoke and heat damage was extensive. Total damages are estimated at $60,000. The victim's two dogs were rescued and safe, but a pet cat did not survive.

Investigators saw there were smoke detectors inside the home, but they failed to alert the victim to the fire. Crews are still investigating.
