Stolen car exemplifies car prowl issues

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash;-- Car prowls are continuing to be a issue around the Tri-Cities area and the latest was last night in Richland.

A red Acura Integra was stolen by an unknown suspect while it was parked in front of 3 Flames Mongolian Grill in Richland. The vehicle was unlocked and running. Officers say the man was intoxicated and left a glass behind.

The Acura was later found in a ditch off of Weidle Rd by a West Richland Officer who happened to be in the area looking for an unrelated Hit and Run suspect.

During the course of their investigation, probable cause was developed to believe Brandon J. Almond 07-23-82 was in possession of stolen property. After Police conducted an interview with Almond, he was booked into the Benton County Jail on the charge of Theft of a motor vehicle. The glass found nearby at the time of the theft will be fingerprinted and prints will be sent to the lab for analysis.
