NEAR EATONVILLE, Wash. - Two Pierce County Sheriff's Office deputies remain in the hospital Tuesday after being shot Monday night while responding to a call in the area.
The suspect in the shooting, David Crable, 35, was shot and killed at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.
One deputy was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center and remains in critical condition and is undergoing surgery. The other, a sergeant, was taken by ambulance to Madigan Medical Center in Tacoma and was upgraded to serious condition.
Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says the deputies were shot at 8:48 p.m. on Monday night. They were responding to a call about a dispute between two brothers.
Crable was convicted earlier this year for displaying a weapon with intent to intimidate and has a history of domestic violence.
The shooting comes more than three weeks after four Lakewood police officers were shot and killed at a coffee shop in Parkland.
