Local police try to understand another cop shooting
RICHLAND, Wash.-- After last night's Pierce County attack on two Sheriff's deputies, our local police are thinking, "not again."
It's now been three times in the past two months officers have been shot in our state.
Last night Pierce County Sergeant Nick Hausner and Deputy Kent Mundell were both shot by 35-year-old David Crable during a domestic dispute.
Add that to the deliberate killings in Lakewood and the murder of Timothy Brenton in Seattle. Police are trying to understand why this is happening.
"What is going on?," says Richland Police Captain Mike Cobb. "Where have we made a turn? A change? A difference? A lot of things have remained the same but somehow this has become accepted and it definitely is not."
Sergeant Hausner is in stable condition. Deputy Mundell is still in critical condition.
Captain Cobb knows the Deputy from their work with the SWAT team.
