TOUCHET, Wash --In their contract it states that teachers in the Touchet school district are to be paid on the last working day of each month. Because of the holiday break, that last working day was the 18th.
But the teachers still haven't received their paychecks. Superintendent Dan McDonald told them there was a glitch in the payroll system. But teachers we talked to today showed us an email from the company that handles the paychecks saying there was no glitch, the problem is with the Touchet school district.
Now teachers aren't expecting to receive payment until the end of this month. Besides the usual concerns that would come with not getting paid, teachers have to be worried about how the lack of money will effect Christmas.
"My kids are still having Christmas but I had to take back some gifts and I had promised to take them skiing so that is postponed until I get paid," says art teacher Veronica Ogden.
At this point all the teachers we've talked to just want answers. They've tried contacting superintendent McDonald multiple times, and so have we, but nobody has heard back from him.
