KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Benton Franklin County Traffic Safety Task Force will be conducting impaired driving emphasis patrol on New Year's Eve. The patrol will run from 9:00 PM to 3:00 am. Officers, deputies, and troopers from the Mid-Columbia will be out in force.
They are saying the best advice they can give is to have a game plan before going out. A designated driver or taxis are the best choice. "We just wanted to remind the public that there are a lot of alternatives out there and there are a bunch of taxi cab companies here locally and no shortage. And they are going to be happy to get people to the next party, to their home, wherever they need to go. That's the avenue to take to have a safe night," said Sergeant Ken Lattin, from the Kennewick Police Department.
He says too often they see people designated to be the driver that end up drinking and then driving.
