First local babies of the decade

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Every new years day brings up the question: where was the first baby of the year born in our region?

Yakima's first 2010 baby is Giovanny Gonzalez-Romero, born at 1:08 A.M. this morning.

He's a healthy baby boy weighing six pounds, 15 ounces and he's 20 inches long.

Giovanny has two older siblings, seven and four years old.

In the Tri-Cities area the first baby of the year was born at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland.

Bethany and Gabriel Beliz of Kennewick are the proud parents of Krue Beliz. He came into the world at 4:08 this morning.

But the overall winner for first baby of the year that we could find was born in Pendleton, Oregon.  Layla Wallahee was born at 12:58 this morning to mom, Georgia Tsosie, and dad, Leo Wallahee.

Layla was born at six pounds, one ounce.
