Kennewick, WASH - The new Clover Island Lighthouse in Kennewick is one step closer to being finished. Wednesday workers lifted the lantern room to the top. This is the piece that sits around the actual light. Port of Kennewick leaders say the lighthouse is just about done and is already getting great reviews.
"We've received quite a bit of positive comments and excitement for this public gathering place and this lighthouse to provide safety to boaters in the area," says Larry Peterson, Port of Kennewick Director of Planning and Development.
The actual lantern will be added later this month. The lighthouse will then be reviewed by the Coast Guard and should be turned on in February.
