Review period almost up for KPD officer shooting claim
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Time is almost up for the city of Kennewick to act after a fatal police shooting.
In September, Christopher Villarreal was shot and killed by a Kennewick Police officer during a traffic stop.
When the lawyers for the family of Villarreal filed a ten million dollar claim against the city of Kennewick there was a 60-day review to give the city a chance to make a move on the claim before a lawsuit would be filed.
That period comes up at the end of this week.
But both parties are still waiting on an FBI investigation to wrap up. The Department of Justice has given no timetable on when that could be completed.
