A 21-year-old Richland man is dead after a gun accidentally goes off in his home. Police have been investigating the fatal shooting of Kip Graham since Thursday, and today an autopsy shows he died of a bullet wound to his stomach.
The Benton County Coroner has confirmed it was a single bullet wound to the stomach, and it correlates with the witness statements given to police. At the time of the accident police say Graham and four of his friends were checking out a gun when it accidentally went off.
Today we talked with a long time family friend who says Kip was like a son to her over the years.
"This was a kid who was not into drugs, was not into drinking, didn't smoke, was knowledgeable about firearms and a tragic accident still occurred because of it," Kendra Stoneking said. "I just don't know what to say about that except I'm so sorry it happened."
Family friends tell me it's a tragic accident, and all those who knew Kip will truly miss him.
