OLYMPIA, Wash;--The primary focus of the session this year, is going to be finding a way to eliminate a $2.6 billion debt.
This will most likely get done by tax increases on certain items. Democratic leaders have indicated that an across-the-board sales tax increase is unlikely. However, we could see tax increases on things like cigarettes, candy, and bottled water.
Other issues that will be receiving attention this session include crime and safety, sparked by the recent shootings of officers in Washington, and environmental issues, such as ways to enhance renewable energy resources.
