SPOKANE, Wash. -- One of these days, the Gonzaga Bulldogs will finally get to play in front of their home crowd but right now they continue a 3-game conference road trip.
The biggest hurdle was Saturday's game at Portland, which the Zags won, 81-78.
Now the challenge is to keep it going against St. Mary's on Thursday and then San Diego on Saturday.
"You win on the road in college basketball, that's a really, really good thing," said Zags Head Coach Mark Few. "It doesn't matter who you're playing, obviously. When you're playing a team as good as Portland, that was a nice accomplishment by our guys. Watched a little tape of some things we can clean up and hopefully we'll take another step this week."
"It was a packed house and they came to play and it was a great way to kick off the season," said Gonzaga Freshman Kelly Olynyk. "We got out of there with a win which is great for us. I think it was great for us to experience that as freshmen and as a young team."
