RICHLAND. Wash;-- A week long, winter-time Tri-Cities camp-out starts tonight at Central United Protestant Church in Richland. However, it's not your typical camp-out. It's designed to raise awareness about the issues and challenges homeless people face and to bring people together to raise money and identify what needs to be done about homelessness in the Tri-Cities.
"It's going to be fun," Carol Rose Franke who expects to camp out all week said. "I'm going to be meeting some new folks and I think it's going to help the community realize we can't close our eyes and turn our backs to our neighbors."
All the money raised this week will go towards the Union Gospel Mission's Homeless Housing Project. The event lasts until next Sunday.
