Doctors get more time to observe man accused of murder
Pasco, WA- A judge has given doctors more time to determine if a man is mentally fit to stand trial for murder.
Roman Garcia Morales has been in Franklin County jail for more than a year. He and his brother Jose Garcia Morales are accused of shooting a man to death and wounding his wife in their Pasco home.
Morales was scheduled to go to trial last fall when the judge put the trial on hold while psychiatrists at Eastern State Hospital studied Morales. In his court appearances, Morales has appeared listless and detached from the proceedings.
Psychiatrists will spend another 30 days observing Morales before the judge rules whether he's competent to go to trial.
