Students run for Haiti

Posted: Updated:

Kennewick, WA- The children at Cascade Elementary School are doing their part to help victims of the Haiti earthquake.

The children held a jog-a-thon during their physical education lasses today.

For every lap they ran, the students raised a dime to go to Haiti.

Fifth grader Griffen Mattson says he and his classmates wanted to do something to help after seeing the pictures in Haiti. "We watched your guys' news and we saw what happened to Haiti in the earthquake and everything, and how people are homeless and they don't have any food or water."

Griffen ran 22 laps, which comes to $2.20 that he will donate to the Red Cross Haiti relief fund.
