Latino Community outreach conference brings students to WSU
RICHLAND, Wash;-- "Education is the future" is posted all over the WSU Tri-Cities campus for today's outreach conference.
The event brought in about 150 Pasco students and their parents to see first hand what their college experience could be like if they get good grades and apply for scholarships. WSU's Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Program is already in 18 school districts around the area. The program focuses on spreading information about college, and today was to show middle and high school students how to pursue a college education.
The breakout sessions today offered seven workshops, some in English and others in Spanish. Parents could learn about how they can help their children succeed in school so they are ready for the leap to college. Students learned about academics, financial aid, the admissions process and scholarships.
