KENNEWICK. Wash;-- A celebration of National Yoga Day brings beginning yoga students out for free classes today at Yoga Community in Kennewick.
It started at 8am with a meditation class and throughout the day more people trickled in to find out how learning yoga skills can help them. Yoga Day was created to show how the exercise can help with stress management, flexibility, and endurance.
According to a Yoga Journal study, 15.8 million Americans practice yoga and 14 million say that a doctor or therapist has recommended yoga to improve their health. Yoga as a medical therapy is garnering more attention in the medical community as demonstrated by Nation Institute of Health's first ever Yoga Week which explored the science and practice of yoga.
