KENNEWICK, Wash..-- More details tonight in how nineteen-year-old Tyler Bies was hit and killed by a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train near state route 397 and Cochran road.

After an investigation, the Benton county sheriff's office says he was killed sometime between 11:30 P.M. on December 15th and 2:30 A.M. the next morning.

Video provided by BNSF did not show the exact moment of impact. The 12:!5 train that most likely struck and killed Bies was equipped with surveillance equipment, but it was reportedly "inoperable" at the time.

The corner says it's not from the force of the train, but because it amputated his left foot causing Bies to bleed to death.

The coroner also says alcohol and hypothermia were contributing factors in death.

The death is being ruled as an accident.
