KENNEWICK, Wash;--The IRS is urging people who qualify to take advantage of the Earned Income Tax Credit.
The EITC is one of the largest tax breaks provided to working individuals and families, and is a huge financial boost to millions each year. The average family received an extra $2,000 refund last tax season.
But representatives from the IRS tell me only about 1 of 4 people who are eligible for the credit actually take advantage of it. Because of this low number the IRS is launching an Earned Income Tax Awareness Day.
There will be an event in Yakima on Friday at the Morning Star Church. It will run from 11 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon. If you have any questions about whether you qualify, representatives from the IRS will be there to help you.
