Application deadline for the large Mary Davis Scholarship approaching
YAKIMA, Wash. -- The deadline for the Mary Davis Scholarship is getting close. Members of the Yakima Rotary will be awarding $125,0000 in scholarships this year.
It's a need based award and a wide range of people qualify. They're looking for well rounded candidates from the Yakima Valley. Students need to be competitive in academics and demonstrate leadership skills.
The scholarship is possible because of it's namesake the late Mary Monroe Davis.
"If I had that much money, I'd leave it to kids that need the education, that want the education. I think that she was extremely generous in what she did," said Kathryn Kibbee, high school senior.
Kathryn has three younger brothers, she'll be paying for college herself, so she's applying for plenty of college scholarships including the Mary Davis. Applications are due by February 15th.
