Kennewick Police announce new public crime mapping
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- It's called "crime mapping", and now Kennewick Police have it online so you can see where common "target" crimes are happening, like theft and burglary.
They also will track for months at a time so you can see crime trends.
Interestingly enough, police say when you look at the spread over the course of a year. The only hot spot in Kennewick is around the mall, where there are more cars and valuables. The goal is to get people to "see" where crime is happening.
Police also hope by seeing crimes on a map, you'll be more aware of the thefts and burglaries that take place; and then maybe you'll remember to lock your home and car.
