The Tri-Cities TEA Party Group has been around now for about a year, but some members decided to shake things up and go in a different direction.
It's a shakeup that resulted in a handful of organizers and members of the TEA party group to branch off and create something new. About three weeks ago a new group was created called the Freedom Warriors. Today we talked with one of the coordinators. He says it's a group where no one is the presidents, treasurer or really any type of leader. They are united he says, to focus on an ideal he tells us has been forgotten by the TEA party group as core values have shifted over time.
"We decided just to use that name and keep going on with what we feel is more inline with the original intent of the original TEA party," Jim Forbes of the Freedom Warriors said.
Forbes says the original intent of the Tri-Cities TEA party group is to focus on limited government and a free market. He also adds while he was a member he saw it shift to a more partisan organization, which is why he has moved on and helped create the Freedom Warriors. He says the group will work to remain non-partisan and give all political figures and all issues equal time and interest.
