District will develop new options for collaboration time
RICHLAND, Wash. - The Richland School district is in the process of developing new options to help improve student learning. Last week the school district denied three proposed early release options for middle and high school teacher collaboration time. The reason being was because many parents and teachers voiced concerns about the loss of instruction time.
Now the district is holding public meetings asking for input from parents, students and staff. The next public meeting will be tomorrow night at Enterprise Middle School library. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. The district will also survey all teachers in the next few weeks in an effort to get their thoughts about Professional Learning Communities and to get more ideas about how best to implement PLCs at the secondary level.
The new options for collaboration time will be presented to board members February 23.
