Memorial Bible Church group returns home from Haiti
GLEED--After two weeks helping earthquake victims in Haiti, members of a local church group return home.
Members of Memorial Bible Church landed at the Yakima Air Terminal early Saturday morning.
They shared pictures from their trip with KNDO.
The group spent two weeks working in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Jimani, a border town where many refugees fled after last month's massive earthquake nearly destroyed Port-au-Prince, the nation's capitol.
Many people they met suffered severe injuries that had not been treated.
"Just rows and rows of them in the dirt on really thin mattresses with their family members around them," Tallie McClary-Ott said. "It was just so shocking to see that, because it's so different from what we've seen in America."
The group was close enough to feel aftershocks from the earthquake. Those shocks were strong enough to shake nearby buildings.
