KENNEWICK, Wash;-- As the Tri-Cities Cancer Center in Kennewick continues to grow with more support services and newer technology another area is also expanding.
This year the Cancer Center will reach out to more people in the Tri-Cities and even outside of it. Workers say they want to do a record number of breast and cervical screenings, at no cost, in the Tri-Cities, Hermiston and Othello.
"We're really trying to make sure that every woman gets screened as early as possible because the earlier they get diagnosed the more options they have for treatment and less severe or radical the treatment is going to be," Cancer Center's Cindy Miller said.
The pink ice night at the American's game last night generated about $20,000 for the Cancer Center. That money will go towards the free screenings which are tentatively scheduled in March.
