TERRACE HEIGHTS--A Zillah man spends his Valentine's Day in the Yakima County Jail, after police say he tried to steal money from an ATM.
Yakima County Sheriff's deputies responded to the Yakima Valley Credit Union in Terrace Heights shortly before 5:00 a.m. Sunday.
A security guard at nearby Pacific Northwest University told deputies he saw someone attempted to break open one of the ATMs at the credit union with a crowbar.
When deputies arrived the suspect tried to flee, but the security guard tackled him.
The 24-year-old has been booked into the Yakima County Jail on charges of attempted theft, malicious mischief and possession of burglary tools.
The suspect's name was not released; he failed to get any money out of the machine.
