Sterk Headed to San Diego State

PULLMAN, Wash. -- In Pullman, the Cougars basketball team is a loser of two straight but they have also lost their athletic director.

As expected, Jim Sterk was introduced as the new San Diego State Athletic Director after a decade long run with Washington State.

Anne Mccoy has been named the interim director. Former Oregon Athletic Director Bill Moos is considered a strong candidate for the position. He will be on campus Wednesday to talk about the open job.

Sterk says he is sad to leave WSU.

"It's a difficult time because as President Weber said I've been at Washington State for 10 years," said Sterk. "[I have] great friends, great colleagues, and staff. I just think the world of them. This was an opportunity for me that I couldn't turn down."
