Haiti judge frees 8 of 10 detained U.S. missionaries
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - A Haitian attorney says 8 of 10 American missionaries from an Idaho-based church group, charged with child kidnapping will be released. He says he made the decision after the parents of the children testified they voluntarily handed their children over to the missionaries.
The judge in Haiti says they will be allowed to return to the U.S. without posting bail but will have to return if called back.
Group leader, Laura Silsby and Charisa Coulter will be head for additional questioning. He also asked Coulter to be hospitalized because of her diabetes.
The group is accused of trying to take 33 Haitian children out of the quake-stricken country. They say they were on a humanitarian mission and have denied accusations of trafficking.
