KENNEWICK, Wash.-- If you're one of the thousands in the Tri-Cities who sweat, pedal and lift to stay healthy, what if you're gym could actually make you sicker?
We took samples all around one gym in Kennewick to see how dirty it really was; Tri-Cities Laboratory has the results.
"Everything looked like environmental bacteria that you would find on anybody's skin," says microbiologist, Amanda Schoenrock.
Staph and E-coli were widespread; but after we wiped the equipment down, the bacteria disappeared.
"You're going to have germs everywhere," says Schoenrock. "So taking those precautions of using those wipes are always beneficial to us. So by using them you won't be passing things onto people."
Germs before the wipes, no germs after. So what's the real danger?
"It's recommended to [use wipes] because you can spread those germs to people, and you know bacteria isn't the best thing in the whole entire world," says Schoenrock.
