YAKIMA, Wash. -- A Spokane Valley man is behind bars for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a Yakima woman.
The incident happened Monday night. The 30 year old victim told police she and the suspect had a child together, and the suspect came from the Spokane area for visitation.
She told police she got into an argument with the suspect, who forced her, at knife point, into her own car. The victim claims he drove her around for about three hours. She says he assaulted her, threatened to kill her, choked her and tried to handcuff her.
Police say the suspect eventually drove the victim back home, but refused to let her leave. They say she was able to eventually get her cell phone to her mother who called police. They responded to the 1100 block of S. 1st Ave just before midnight.
Officers say a brief pursuit began. The suspect crashed the victim's car into a pole and fled. A YPD K-9 was used to find him. He was found hiding in the 1700 block of Prash.
The suspect was arrested and taken to a hospital for a dog-bite before he was booked into the Yakima County Jail. He faces charges of Kidnapping, Second Degree Assault, Unlawful Imprisonment, Felony Harassment, Auto Theft and Eluding.
