BENTON CITY, Wash.-- It's an experience Erin Jenks will never forget.
Yesterday, Jenks and her dog were walking along a ridge above her house near Red Mountain. That's when she says she came face to face with a cougar, and only fifty yards away.
She says she's convinced it was a cougar. The Sheriff's Office investigated but couldn't find anything. Still, she's sure about what she saw and felt.
"[I felt] terror," she says. "I was trying to think of what I needed to do to get down safely."
After she saw the cougar, Jenks says she tried to make as much noise and seem as tall as possible. Experts say that's exactly what you should do.
The Sheriff's Office hasn't had any more calls about a possible cougar in the area
