PNNL finishes installation to detect dirty bombs at our borders
RICHLAND, Wash.-- PNNL leaders announced a major milestone in keeping our country safe.
Recently they and the Department of Homeland Security finished installing nuclear radiation monitors at all road border crossings.
More than eight hundred of the yellow frames are up on the Northern and Southern borders and that has local scientists taking pride in helping keep our entire nation safe.
"I think we all get a deep satisfaction that we're actually making a difference for the nation," says Project Manager, Daniel Stephens, Ph.D. "And executing a mission that we all believe is important and the united states believes is equally important."
Up next for PNNL is deciding when and where to install the monitors at other points of entry like seaports and airports.
