Richland, WA- The Richland School District has sealed the deal on buying land for a new elementary school.
The school district has purchased 15 acres off paradise way in West Richland for $675,000.
Executive Director of Support Services Mark Panther says he works closely with city planners to anticipate where families are going to move and raise their kids, and then he starts shopping for land.
"Twenty years down the road there may not be that much property available in the area that we need it. So we're always looking to see what's out there and available."
If growth in West Richland continues as expected, Panther says voters could be asked to pay for a new school at the site within the next two years.
