West Valley High students raising money for Humane Society

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA--Marketing students at West Valley High School are collecting donations for Yakima's Humane Society.

The group of juniors and seniors started Pennies for Pets for a project in their marketing class, but they hope to make an impact outside of the grade book.

Saturday, students collected donations in Chalet Square on 56th Avenue.  They hope to raise at least $1,000 to help abused and abandoned pets.

"It's a great way to help out the community," Lauren Boushey, a junior at West Valley High School, said.  "The Humane Society [is] always in need of donations.  They don't have bad pets, the pets just have some bad owners."

If you'd like to help out Pennies for Pets, call West Valley High School at 509-972-5900 and ask for the marketing department.

Or, you can donate to the Humane Society at any time by calling 509-457-6854.
