Argument in Yakima leads to homicide

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA--Yakima Police are investigating 2010's third homicide within city limits.

According to Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins, James Kilby was shot to death in the parking lot outside the Wray's Thriftway on Nob Hill Boulevard.

Officers found the 29-year-old at about 10:00 p.m. Saturday.  He'd been shot once in the chest.

Police believe two men got in a fight a few blocks away from the grocery store. One ran and got into the car with Kilby.

That's when the other man, described as an adult black male with facial hair, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, shot Kilby.

He was taken to a local hospital but did not survive.

Hawkins said Kilby would have turned 30 on Monday, March 1.
