RICHLAND, Wash.-- The city of Richland has to regroup after a federal grant to build the Duportail bridge was rejected.
Last week the Public Works department found out they were not selected for a 27 million dollar U.S. Department of Transportation grant to pay for the entire project.
Now instead of building the bridge in one shot, they will have to build it in sections for less money.
In the meantime the city will continue to develop plans for the bridge and look for funding elsewhere.
When completed, the bridge will connect the Bypass Highway and Duportail street with south Richland.
