Washington is seeing more jobs

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash;-- Despite unemployment reaching new highs, reports show about 2,000 jobs have been added in the Tri-Cities.

Managers at work source say unemployment numbers have jumped to above 8 percent in Benton County and 10 percent in Franklin Country; however, there is hope as more than 2,000 jobs have been added here in the past year.

"They were created in the professional and business services area, and are connected back to the stimulus dollars," Candace Bluechel from WorkSource said.

With more jobs comes a possible change in unemployment for the future.

"We just need now to help the rest of our industries to feel comfortable and start hiring again."

According to recent economic studies, the Tri-Cities tops the nation in job growth for the second half of 2009 and continues to show growth in the first quarter of 2010.
