Memorial prepares to open new rehab therapy facility
YAKIMA, Wash. - Memorial Hospital is preparing to open a new rehabilitation facility this weekend that incorporates multiple forms of therapy for patients in one location.
The Springs will offer occupational, physical, and massage therapy at the recently renovated site. Aquatic therapy will still be available at 16th Avenue Pavilion.
Jackie Ray is Memorial's Director of Rehabilitation Services. She says the new facility will help patients recovering from an injury or illness by showing them how to perform tasks while their body is still healing.
"We've created a very unique environment in that now we provide this activity, a daily living kitchen and bathroom," she said.
Ray says The Springs will have setups allowing people to develop the skills needed to return to normal living.
"We're focusing on function," she said. "How do we keep patients in their homes?"
The Springs is a two-story, 13,000 square-feet building located on 302 S. 10th Ave. It will be hosting an open house on Saturday, March 6 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
