Hotels stay busy with Yakima Sundome teams and travelers
YAKIMA, Wash.- With basketball tournaments at the Yakima Sundome, business is better than ever for local Hotels.
Basketball tournaments are attracting travelers from all over the state. In Yakima, that means thousands of people spending money in local businesses.
"These make a huge impact on the hotels, the restaurants, the sops grocery stores, everything in town," said Sara Allen from the Ledgestone Hotel.
The Fairfield Inn and Ledgestone Hotel are both less than a mile from the Sundome and completely full. Together, these two hotels are housing almost one thousand people for three weeks, that's more than $200,000 in revenue.
"There's been a lot of changes so we didn't want to have any pie in the sky but we were optimistic and i think were at an upswing," said Verlynn Best from the Fairfield Inn.
While travelers and teams are here competing, for the hotel business, everyone wins.
"Everyone fairs pretty well during the three weeks," said Allen.
"Expecting to be off the charts, I do budgeting every year and we've been beating every month last year so hopefully that's the trend for everyone," said Best.
After the tournaments, hotel managers say they're expecting more business with Spring Barrel Tasting.
