Elementary school students vote on design for playground at Kiwanis Park

YAKIMA--Yakima's Kiwanis Park is growing again.  The Rotary Club's adding a playground.

Students at Adams Elementary School voted on what they'd like to see come to Kiwanis Park.

At an assembly Friday afternoon, the Rotary Club announced the fan favorites.  Along with the standard swings and slides, there's a lot of state-of-the-art equipment.

"It's not your regular playground," Kellie Connaughton, Rotary Club, said.  "We wanted something that was very unique to this community, so that people would say, 'Hey let's go check out the new playground.'"

Old or new, kids didn't seem to mind.

Rotary Club has a $130,000 budget for the playground.

They expect construction to begin in May and finish up in June.
