The Cities of Richland and Kennewick have united to decide on what to put in Columbia Park West.
The latest development is the two draft master plan alternatives the community resource team is currently debating. One alternative includes a partial relocation of Columbia Park Trail Drive and the development of a large multi use area. The other alternative is with the Hanford Reach Center. The Center would have educational areas and exhibits.
"We are at an any day now phase because there are meetings going on almost daily, conversations, emails, going back and forth, so we're excited at the possibility," Kimberly Camp, CEO of the Reach Center said. "All this activity could in fact, at some point get us a permanent home for the Reach."
Camp says these plans have been in the works for a while, but if the Reach Center is chosen she says they hope to break ground for construction sometime this year.
